What is Train to Gain?

Train to Gain is funded by the Learning and Skills Council. It is part of a long-term government initiative to provide a wide range of training aimed at assisting businesses in improving both productivity and competitiveness by ensuring their workforce is equipped with the appropriate skills and abilities to do the job and play key role in the company’s future growth and thus improving the knowledge and skills of England’s workforce.

The project offers free NVQ training at Level 2/3/4 for adults aged 19 years and above who are employed, in a voluntary work, self employed or a sole trader who have not yet achieved a qualification at Level 2 – i.e. they do not have 5 GCSE or O Level passes at grades A-C, or an NVQ Level 2, or a comparable diploma or certificate.

The Elthorne Learning Centre (ELC) is an approved Centre for the following Awarding Bodies:
National Open College Network (NOCN)
Oxford Cambridge and RSA (OCR)
City & Guilds
CACHE
ASDAN

ELC has been awarded a contract to deliver Train to Gain throughout London. Through Train to Gain, the centre is able to offer the following Training Services:

NVQ in Children’s Care Learning and Development – Level 2, 3 & 4
NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools – Level 2 & 3
Playwork - Level 2 & 3
NVQ for IT User – Level 2 & 3
NVQ in Customer Service - Level 2 & 3
NVQ in Business and Administration - Level 2 & 3
Skills for Life (ESOL)
